About This Publication
This case series represents one of the largest published single-center experiences with stapled hemorrhoidopexy (Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids — PPH) from India at the time of publication, documenting outcomes in 3600 consecutive patients treated at Healing Hands Clinic.
Stapled hemorrhoidopexy was introduced as an alternative to conventional hemorrhoidectomy for Grade III and IV hemorrhoids, offering the advantages of reduced post-operative pain, faster recovery, and comparable recurrence rates. However, large Indian series were lacking — this study addressed that gap.
The series documented key operative parameters, complications (including urinary retention, bleeding, stricture, and urgency), patient satisfaction, return to normal activity, and long-term recurrence rates at defined follow-up intervals.
The outcomes confirmed that stapled hemorrhoidopexy is safe and effective in the Indian population when performed by an experienced colorectal surgeon, with complication rates consistent with or better than published international benchmarks. This study laid the foundation for subsequent technical refinements and the development of laser hemorrhoidopexy at Healing Hands Clinic.
