Luck favors the brave ( and hardworking ), and in the tough initial phase of his career, Dr Porwal had an excellent opportunity to train under world renowned colorectal surgeon, Dr Antonio Longo. Taking up Proctology proved a game-changer for this budding surgeon, as super specialists in this field are still a rarity in India. In a brief period of about 8 years, Dr Porwal has established himself as the country’s leading Proctologist. With a number of firsts to his credit, he has opened new doors for future surgeons, advocating them to bring light to the part of the human body where the 'sun don’t shine'!

We all are students, after all life never stops teaching its lessons. Then again, a fortunate few get an opportunity to ‘teach’, or rather, to spread knowledge.Starting training courses at Healing Hands Clinic was one such effort to widen the scope of Proctology. With the alarmingly high incidence of these problems,the only way to tackle them was to increase the number of specialists. The response has been overwhelming!
We have had students and surgeons from across India. However, to know that doctors have travelled all the way from Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen to learn with us, is truly humbling. The Diploma courses are certified by Dr Antonio Longo ( inventor of MIPH technique for Hemorrhoids and STARR Surgery for ODS/Prolapse ) and Dr Ashwin Porwal.
Healing Hands Clinic is now recognized by MUHS ( Maharashtra University of Health Sciences ) for providing certified training in Proctology. The 1 year Fellowship in Proctology course can be pursued by a student who has completed MBBS and done a post-graduation in General Surgery.
